GTA VI launch gallery: what Rockstar's 39 new screenshots show

The GTA VI Launch Gallery is a set of 39 new screenshots that Rockstar Games posted on November 5, 2026, on the game's official site at rockstargames.com/VI/launch-gallery, two weeks before Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. Rockstar files 15 of them under Vice City, 20 under Jason, Lucia or the pair, and four under other parts of Leonida, the game's fictional state. The post announces no new date, edition or feature. Next on the calendar is pre-load, an early download that Rockstar dates November 10, 2026, and that takes up to 212 GB of space.

What is the GTA VI Launch Gallery?

It's a single scrolling page. Rockstar announced it in a four-sentence post on Newswire, the company's news page, and left the pictures to do the talking. The page opens on a full-screen shot of Jason and Lucia in a club under purple light, then runs through the other 38. Below them, it links to the Media & Artwork downloads and to Only in Leonida, the site's guide to the game's people and places.

Every file is 3840 by 2160 pixels, which is 4K. The page doesn't say which console captured them. Rockstar does say that about its An Extended Look video, which it describes as captured entirely from in-game footage on PS5. None of the 39 shots shows a mini-map or any other on-screen display, so they tell you about the world and its characters rather than how the game looks in play.

What the 39 new GTA 6 screenshots show

Rockstar's Media page names each shot by character or place, and those labels give this breakdown:

The image descriptions fill in names you might miss in the pictures. The robbery happens at a Fleeca bank branch, and the bar is The Rusty Anchor. A man and woman in one group portrait both have M7 tattoos, a dancer lying on dollar bills wears a Sessanta Nove bikini, and a man holding a pit bull in a gold-spiked collar wears a gold S4S chain. The oddest detail sits in a Jason shot: he aims a customized assault rifle in front of a plane with its cargo ramp open, next to a dog in tactical goggles. Rockstar doesn't say where any of it falls in the story. Three of the shots center on club dancers, so this isn't a page to open in front of kids.

The labels also show what Rockstar doesn't point to this time. Its older screenshots cover two more places, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park, and six supporting characters filed by name: Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista and Brian Heder. None of the 39 carries one of those labels, and the descriptions name no one except Jason and Lucia, though that doesn't mean those people and places are missing from the shots.

Where to download the GTA VI screenshots

Rockstar's Media page, at rockstargames.com/VI/media/screenshots, is the place to get them, and the site says the files are there to download and share. It now lists 138 official screenshots with the 39 new ones first, which leaves 99 from earlier releases. You can save one at a time or take everything in a single zip file of about 116 MB, sorted into People and Places folders.

Three more sets sit alongside it. A separate zip of about 85 MB holds 51 Ultimate Edition screenshots, one of about 21 MB holds 12 from the Vintage Vice City Pack, and the Artwork section offers 25 pieces of art and wallpapers in several sizes.

When does GTA VI pre-load start?

Pre-load lets you download the game early so it's ready to start at launch. It opens at different moments on the two consoles, and on Xbox it starts the day before the official date everywhere in the US. Rockstar moved it up from the November 12, 2026, date it gave in June. Here's the calendar from here:

Rockstar calls 212 GB the ceiling and says the size depends on your device, and its post gives no figure per console. Sony tells PS5 owners to clear at least that much, and you need a pre-order or a boxed code to start. Rockstar's support page also asks for auto-downloads turned on and the console on or in Rest Mode on PS5, and automatic updates turned on and the console on or in Sleep mode on Xbox.

Buying a box doesn't get you around the download. Rockstar's store says the physical version, which it calls a code-in-box, holds only a download code, with no disc, and you need an internet connection and a platform account to install it. Its PlayStation codes are region-locked: one shipped to the US or Canada works only with a PlayStation account registered in those two countries. Order from the Rockstar Store after launch and it estimates shipping at 1 to 7 days, depending on the option you pick.

What time does GTA VI unlock on launch day?

Rockstar and the US store listings don't quite match on this one. Rockstar's support page says the game releases at midnight local time on launch day in all regions, on both consoles. Sony's US product page and Microsoft's US listing data, both read on November 6, 2026, stamp one moment for the whole country instead: 05:00 UTC. That works out to midnight ET, 11 p.m. CT and 10 p.m. MT, with the West Coast at 9 p.m. PT, the last three on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

Rockstar hasn't explained the difference, and its Newswire posts give only the date. The stamp isn't strong evidence of an early West Coast start, though. Sony and Microsoft each carry one per country, always midnight in that country's main time zone, from Mexico and the UK to Germany and Japan, so it may simply be how they list a date. Plan on midnight in your own time zone. If you're west of the Eastern time zone, it costs nothing to try launching the game on the evening of the 18th.

GTA VI price and editions

The free pack in the calendar above is a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with a garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern. The Ultimate Edition adds items that Rockstar says are threaded through Jason and Lucia's story, including a '95 Grotti Cheetah, the Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers, a Shitzu Squalo boat, a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and the Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor. There's no physical Ultimate Edition, so box buyers who want it have to buy the upgrade from the PlayStation or Microsoft store after redeeming their code.

GTA+ is Rockstar's paid membership. On PS5, the free month rolls into a paid subscription unless you cancel, and you have until March 31, 2027, to claim it. The Launch Trailer, the Justice score and the free map

Rockstar released the Launch Trailer on October 15, 2026, with new music from Justice, the French electronic duo behind the game's score. The score album comes to streaming services, CD and vinyl with 30 tracks plus digital bonus tracks, and two singles are already out: "Flower in a Hurricane," with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and "Pusher," with Gesaffelstein.

The soundtrack is a separate release. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album has 34 original tracks, and its official store lists the CD at $19.98 and vinyl at $49.98, with a $124.98 limited-edition vinyl already sold out.

The free download is a printable cover-art poster and map of Leonida on the official site. A double-sided physical version reaches the Rockstar Store shortly after launch, at $0.99 or as a free gift with any purchase there.

What Rockstar still hasn't said

The gallery leaves the bigger open questions where they were. Rockstar calls GTA VI a single-player experience and hasn't announced an online mode. It hasn't announced a PC version, either, which keeps the usual route for VR mods closed, as we explain in Does GTA 6 have VR?. Sony's US listing carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label, its mark for games tuned for the higher-end PS5 model, but the page doesn't spell out what changes on that console.
